He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilma Short and Melvin Short; and his brother Lyle Short. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Joann Short (late Lyle) of Iowa; his sisters, Bev Terrill of Iowa, Marguerite (Jerry Pierce) of Iowa and Kathy (Bryan Pierce) of Wisconsin; and his children, Michael Short of Alaska, Sherry Wilkin (Jeff Wilkin) of Colorado, Mark Short (Vicki Short) of Texas, Pam Hoyt (Gordon Hoyt) of Texas, Theresa Morgan (Tim Morgan) of Wisconsin, Kevin Esslinger of South Dakota, Melinda Lercel, Darryl Lercel of Indiana and Kristina Kynard of Texas. He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lucas Funeral Home - Hurst (1321 Precinct Line Rd, Hurst, TX 76053). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211).
