He is survived by: his friends, Jim Brickel, Jim Lovell, Buzz Aldrin, Tom Stafford and Don Eisele; his children, George M. "Scooter" Smith (Clare) and Elizabeth Smith Curtis (Carl); his grandsons, Grayson, Ethan, Weston Edward Smith (Abbie) and Christopher Ward Smith (Leighton); and his great grandchild Leon Ward Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 at the St. Luke's United Methodist Church (3471 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77027).
