It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James William Burns of Dunlay, Texas, who passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy F. Burns, Sr. and Rachel E. Brooks Burns; his wife Veeda Smith; his granddaughter Emily; and his brother Roy F. Burns, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, James E. Burns (Jennifer) of Hondo and Lysandra Burns of Dallas; and his grandchildren, Crystal, April, Dakota, Michelle, Shaina and Courtney. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home (1016 Lorenzo St, Castroville, TX 78009). A prayer will be held on Thursday, September 11th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Woodlawn Garden of Memories (1101 Antoine Dr, Houston, TX 77055).
