He was predeceased by: his father James Mayfield Sr.; his stepfather Jerald Griffin; and his brother James Mayfield Jr.. He is survived by: his mother Claudette; and his children, Andrea Allen (Bill), John Mayfield Jr. (Lisa), Claudette, Jerald Griffin and Robert Mayfield (Kristina).
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home - Huntsville (1700 Normal Park Dr, Huntsville, TX 77340). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 6th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the San Jacinto Memorial Park (14659 East Fwy, Houston, TX 77015).
