It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Catalina Vela (Fort Worth, Texas), who passed away on April 15, 2026, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, Catalina is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Catalina's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Refugio Aguilar and Isaura Aguilar; and her husband Sotero Vela. She is survived by: her children, David Vela (Mary), Cynthia Lopez, Lydia Castaneda (Manuel), Sylvia Madrid (Robert) and Diana Callaway (Chris). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 21st 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mount Olivet Chapel - Greenwood Funeral Homes and Cremation (2301 N Sylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76111). A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the All Saints Catholic Church (214 NW 20th St, Fort Worth, TX 76164). A burial will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd 2026 at the Mount Olivet Cemetery (2301 N Sylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76111).
