He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Backes and Carol Lorraine Backes; his wife Judith Ann Dorsch Backes; his children, Aaron Backes (Elizabeth), Elliott Backes (Megan), Audrey Hemlinger (Jack) and Ethan Backes; his grandchildren, Fiona, Brooke, Sullivan, Mallory and Julie; his siblings, Victoria Campbell (Michael), Karen Backes and Mark Backes (Leslie); and his siblings-in-law, John Dorsch (Jaqueline), Glenn Dorsch (Dorothy), Joan Gerber (Dale), William Dorsch (Ceila), Carl Dorsch (Cheryl), Marion Pender, Janet Huff (Terry) and Laurie Stein. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Owen Catholic Church (6869 Franklin Rd, Bloomfield Twp, MI 48301). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
