He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick and Marie. He is survived by: his stepmother Roberta Byrnes (Wise); his brother Patrick Byrnes (Lisa Madigan); his nieces, Rebecca and Lucy; and his stepsisters, Kimberly Schafer, Michele Goodenow and Danielle Masouris-Berent.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 2701 Chicago Blvd, Detroit, MI 48206. A prayer will be held on Sunday, June 8th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. The lying in state will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrement (9844 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48202). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In 2022, he returned to the Detroit area to be nearer to friends and family as his health worsened amidst a battle with Alzheimer's disease.
