Veronica Dawn Moenaert, known affectionately as Vern to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at the age of 36. Born on July 18, 1989, in Detroit, Michigan, to Dave and Sally (Wilbur) Moenaert, Vern's zest for life and her kind spirit were evident from an early age. Vern was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence enriched the lives of those around her. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Chloe Maxson, who was the light of her life. Vern's love and guidance will continue to be a beacon for Chloe as she navigates the path ahead. Vern is also survived by her mother, Sally, with whom she shared a bond of unconditional love and mutual respect. Her siblings, Julia (David) Foco, Donna Moenaert, Ginger Moenaert, and her twin Katie (Derek) Sass, will miss her deeply, as will her nieces and nephews, Chesarai Pauley, Zoey Moenaert, Niko Terrebrood, and Jesse Foco, along with great-nieces and nephews Tucker and Teghan Tackett, Meadow Foco, and Tristen Terrebrood. She was preceded in death by her father, David Moenaert, who no doubt welcomed her with open arms, as well as an infant brother Daniel Moenaert.
An adventurous soul, Vern had an insatiable love for the great outdoors. Whether she was fishing, camping, or simply sitting by the bay, she was happiest surrounded by nature's beauty. Her adventurous spirit was matched only by her big heart, which she opened willingly to friends, strangers, and animals alike. Those who knew Vern will always remember her for her loving nature, her readiness to embark on new adventures, and her boundless kindness. Above all, Vern cherished the time spent with her daughter Chloe and her extended family. She believed that the most profound joys were found in the simple moments shared with loved ones. As we bid farewell to Vern, we celebrate a life lived with passion and purpose. Her legacy of love and adventure will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Vern's memory will be treasured in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 7 pm from the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home with Kathy Bersano presiding with cremation to follow. Friends may visit at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home on Thursday, from 2 pm until time of service.
