It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Irene W. Lawes in Gaylord, Michigan, born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on August 14, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Balteau and Winifred Balteau (Piggins); her husband Robert Byron Lawes (Virginia); and her sons, James, William, Steven and John.
She is survived by: her children, Janie Stoner (John), Robert "Mike" Lawes, Suzanne Bur (Joe), Brenda Snapp (Doug) and Timothy Lawes (Tonia); her sister-in-law Joanie Sherman; and her niece Jennifer Sherman-Wisniewski. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gaylord Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service (850 N Center Ave, Gaylord, MI 49734). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
