With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Claire A. Smith of Verona, New Jersey, who passed away on May 6, 2025 at the age of 101. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Claire A. Smith to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Doyle and Elizabeth Doyle; her husband Edward F. Smith; her brothers, Brother Walter Doyle, S. C. and William A. Doyle; her granddaughter Theresa Smith; and her sister-in-law Alice Mae Doyle.
She is survived by: her children, Marian, Edward Lemke, Christopher, Laurie Smith, Marguerite Smith and Janice Molinari; and her grandchildren, Michelle Riggs (Stephen Riggs), David Lemke (Megan Byrum), Daniel Lemke (Lauren Fay), Brian Smith (Heather Barnett), Colleen Newman (John Newman) and Dawn Coppolo (Scott Coppolo). She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Prout Funeral Home (370 Bloomfield Ave, Verona, NJ 07044). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 10th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church (28 Lakeside Ave, Verona, NJ 07044).
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Endowment Fund of Our Lady of the Lake Church, 22 Lakeside Avenue, Verona NJ 07044 or to the Sisters of St. Dominic, One Ryerson Avenue, Caldwell, NJ 07006.
