With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bessie Harrison of Montclair, New Jersey, who passed away on May 4, 2025 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her father Georgie Reid (Lewis); her children, Willie James Moore, Betty Ann Moore and Arthur Laird Harrison (Artie); her father Patrick (Mary Liggins); and her siblings, Irene, George, Queen, William (Dock), Ethal, Gracie, Shirley and Patrick.
She is survived by: her daughter Felice A. Harrison-Crawford of Montclair, NJ; her grandson Dwight James Phillips (Laura); her great grandchildren, Aurora Elizabeth Phillips and Desmond Arthur Phillips of West Orange, NJ; and her brother-in-law Ervin S. Royall (Rita) of Jetersville, VA. She is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, extended family, church members, caregivers and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home (64 Cartersville Rd, Cumberland, VA 23040). A burial will be held on Tuesday, May 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Little Zion Baptist Church (5680 Cartersville Rd, Powhatan, VA 23139).
