She was predeceased by: her parents, Rafael Zaragoza and Maximina Palacios Zaragoza; her husband Benito Lyra; and her siblings, Ignacio Mendez, Aurelio Mendez, Joe Mendez and Julia Mendez.
She is survived by: her children, Rebecca Handy, Ted Lyra and Josue Lyra (Jamie); her grandchildren, Sarah Lyra, Jasmin Handy (Gabriel), Zeke Lyra, Josh Lyra (Maggie), Alyssa Guzman (Benjamin), Noemi Lyra, Allison Linck (Justin) and Ashely Morgan (Tyler); and her great grandchildren, Maximo Ferrales, Ayden Ferrales, Theo Lyra, Adaline Linck, Baby Linck and Arlo Morgan. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Trinity Funeral Chapel of the Holy Spirit (1002 E Harrison Ave, Harlingen, TX 78550). A prayer will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Trinity Funeral Chapel (1002 E Harrison Ave, Harlingen, TX 78550). A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Second Presbyterian Church (901 W Lincoln Ave, Harlingen, TX 78550). A burial will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mont Meta Memorial Park Cemetery (26170 N Sam Houston Blvd, San Benito, TX 78586).
