We bid farewell to Melba Scoggins Pugh of Jacksonville, Texas, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on July 11, 2025 at the age of 98. Melba Scoggins touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Wallace Scoggins and Ethel Frances Scoggins (Blake); her husband Elbert L. Pugh; her children, James Calvin Pugh and Janice Pugh Johnson; her stepsons, Trenton Pugh and Jerry Pugh Riley; her children-in-law, Alice Pugh, Jackie Coats and Roy Patterson; her grandsons, Brent Coats and Elbert Trenton Pugh, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Dakota Coats, Monica Coats and Faith Thompson; her in-laws, Arthur and Jenny Pugh; her brothers, Howard, Glenn and Lewie Scoggins; and her siblings-in-law, Millie, JoAnne, Eunice Scoggins and Lee Pugh (Ruby).
She is survived by: her children, Patricia Coats of Dialville, Beverly Gardner (Johnny) of Jacksonville and Elbert Pugh (Nancy) of Chesterfield, VA; and her son-in-law Billy Johnson of Elkhart. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Larissa Cemetery.
