He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Willie Gillis and Novis Griffin Lunsford Gillis; and his sister Sherry Nell Pledger. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Ruth Gillis; his daughters, Regina Lee Ward (Joe) and Carol Annette Chambless (James); his siblings, Jimmy Dwight Gillis (Mary) and Linda Elizabeth Cobb; his grandchildren, Paige Bing (Rich), Blake Chambless (Lauren), Taylor Swafford (Kyle) and Trent Ward (Nichole); and his great grandchildren, Kaden Morrison, Kohen Bing, Kambrie Chambless, Hallie Chambless, Elise Swafford, Clay Swafford and Joseph Swafford.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Rader Funeral Home (401 N Martin St, Kilgore, TX 75662). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Laird Hill Baptist Church (12392 Co Rd 172A, Laird Hill, TX 75666). A burial will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Crim's Chapel Cemetery (6959 TX-322, Henderson, TX 75652).
For five decades, Charles made significant contributions to LeBus International, where he ultimately retired as Plant Manager.
