It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Edith Merle Palmer of Mount Pleasant, Texas, who passed away on August 14, 2025, at the age of 101, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Rufus Israel Ward and Melba Olive Warren Ward; her husband James Malcolm Palmer; her children, Marilyn Palmer Paris and Randy Palmer; her granddaughter Holly Palmer Miller; and her siblings, Jo Hoover, Mildred Gummelt, Rufus Ward, Jr., John Ward, Dean Ward, Jerry Ward and Roger Ward.
She is survived by: her son Malcolm; her daughter-in-law Torie Palmer of Longview; her grandchildren, Paul Paris (Marlo), Ashley Sutton (Kevin), Whitney Moody (Jason), Lauren Breen (Collin), Clay Palmer (Alyssa) and Justin Palmer; her siblings, Felix Ward (June), Bill Ward (Glenda), Nina Couch, Shirley Anderson and Sandra Stockton (Don); and her close friends, Krystal Carter, Betsy McKellar, Kay Moss and Sue Parker. She is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (2201 TX-49, Mt Pleasant, TX 75455). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
