He is survived by: his wife Margie Ann Rau; his daughter Tamara Poenitzsch; his grandchildren, Courtney Poenitzsch Freeman (Jake), Michaela Ann Reynolds, Alexandria Joy Poenitzsch (Tyler), Cory Wayne Reynolds and Hunter Troy Poenitzsch; his great grandchildren, Westlyn Faith O'neal, Walker Wade Freeman and Tucker Troy Freeman; his daughter-in-law Marti Poenitzsch; his siblings-in-law, Franklin, Susie Rau, Elva Petersen, Mike, Joy Gyllenband, Carol Rau and Rusty; his caregivers, Ariel and Brenda; and his friends, John Wheeler, Pat Elder, Sandy Miks and Little James.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Freund Funeral Home (213 N Gonzales St, Cuero, TX 77954). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 19th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church Lindenau.
