He is survived by: his sisters, Karen Nilson of Tyler and Anita Ogea (Billy) of Rockdale; his siblings' children, Derek Nilson (Joni) of Tyler and Amy Ogea Casas (Jessie) of Rockdale; and his friend Tammy Alexander of Baton Rouge.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 7th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Our Saviour's Luther Church (4900 Kinsey Dr, Tyler, TX 75703).
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church in John's memory.
