It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Billy Joe Bishop of Longview, Texas, who passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Kitty Bishop; his parents, Samford Bishop and Mittie Bishop; his son Ernest Bishop; and his grandchildren, Tonya McBryde and Christopher Pierce.
He is survived by: his children, Brenda Gordon (Jimmy), Billy Bishop and Deborah Pierce (Randy); and his grandsons, Steven Bishop, Ryan Pierce, Jason Pierce, Kyle Pierce, Preston McBryde and JC Alvarez. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wise Funeral Home (219 W Sam Rayburn Dr, Bonham, TX 75418). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Rosewood Cemetery.
