He was predeceased by : his parents, John Rowell-Brooks and Ruby Jean Rowell-Brooks; his sister Jeannie Kelley-Avery; and his grandson Johnnie Belle. He is survived by : his wife Fannie Brooks; and his children, Johnnie Brooks Jr. of New York, Abdurrahim Shakir, Malcolm Brooks, Eric Brooks of New Haven, CT., Linda Miller of Auburn Alabama, Deborah Brooks-Rodriguez of Meriden, CT, Sarah Allen (Wayne) of New Haven, CT, Denise McCrae of Fayetteville, NC and Pamela Brooks of New Haven, CT.. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 7 grandchildren-in-law, 55 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 24th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Curvin K. Council Funeral Home (128 Dwight St, New Haven, CT 06511). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, January 24th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
