She was loved and cherished by many people including : her daughters, Melissa and Taryn (Paul); her parents, Evelyn Jean Matava (Baltuskonis) and Robert Anthony Matava, Sr.; her grandparents, Eugene, Anna Baltuskonis (Killiany), John and Mary Matava (Roman); her brothers, Robert Matava, Jr., John Matava (Jennifer) and Michael Matava (Jennifer); her nieces and nephews, Alexis Muscaro (Stephen), Kayla Lukes, David Matava, Matthew Matava, Eric Matava, Aubrey Matava, Brianna Matava, Michael DiFronzo, Zackary Matava, Zoie Matava, Hunter Muscaro and Haylee Muscaro; and her husband Paul James Sokolik.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and at 8:00 PM at the Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home (258 Prospect St, Torrington, CT 06790). A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A mass of christian burial will be held on Monday, January 29th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Church (160 Main St, Torrington, CT 06790). A burial will be held on Monday, January 29th 2024 at 12:15 PM at the New St. Francis Cemetery (863 S Main St, Torrington, CT 06790).
In lieu of flowers, Barbara requested that donations be made to The Little Guild of St. Francis or any local animal organization (where the donations will go "directly to the animals.").
