It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Shelton (Meriden, Connecticut), born in Ashland, Virginia, who passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Green and Mary Green (Johnson); her siblings, Vernelle Perry, Rose Belle Derricott and Edward Green Sr. Mary; and her grandfather Houston Johnson.
She is survived by: her children, Alvin J. Shelton Jr., Ernestine E. Shelton-Mason (Ellis), Roberta C. Shelton, Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Loretta N. Bryant, Michelle E. Shelton and Joely D. Shelton; and her grandchildren, Shawn Shelton, Christopher Durant, Lorraine Winston, Nelson Winston, Ernestine Green, Mukai Johnson, Kenneth Shelton, Alex Shelton, Chevelle Shelton, Karren Giller, Gregory Bryant Jr., Langston Bryant, Chelsea Shelton and Timothy Franklin Jr.. She is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church (84 Franklin St, Meriden, CT 06450). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
