He was predeceased by: his parents, James Joseph McCarthy and Ada Florence McCarthy (Erbig); his son Joshua; his great grandchildren, Michael of Pittsburgh, PA, Maddox of Freedom, PA, Mila of Freedom, PA, MacKenzie of Freedom, PA, Dorothy of Burlington, NC. and Emma of Burlington, NC.; his great great grandchildren, Arkham of Pittsburgh, PA. and Elias of Pittsburgh, PA.; and his siblings, Florence (Norman LaMontagne) of Torrance, CA, Robert (Dolly) of Stonington, CT, Charles (Beverly) of Norwich, CT, Gladys (Danny Shea) of Pawcatuck, CT and Gloria (Jim Croxton) of Groton, CT.
He is survived by: his children, James E. McCarthy, Jr. (Beverly) of Goodyear, AZ, David K. McCarthy of Windsor Locks, CT and Linda J. Mason (Chip) of Farmington, CT; and his sister-in-law Carole Saretzki.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels (61 S Rd, Enfield, CT 06082). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Leete-Stevens Funeral Home (61 S Rd, Enfield, CT 06082). A burial will be held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at the Hazardville Cemetery.
