He was predeceased by: his wife Maria Julia Rodrigues Afonso; his parents, Jose Afonso and Rosa Fernandes Afonso; his son John Afonso; his brothers, Guilherme and Jose Afonso; and his brother-in-law Jose Pereira.
He is survived by: his daughter Nancy Pires (Michael); his granddaughter Juliana Pires (Lena Moura); his siblings, Antonio Afonso (Theresa), Manuel Afonso (Joaquina), Fatima Pereira, Virginia Afonso (Joao) and Maria Surreira (Joao); and his sister-in-law Fernanda Afonso. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home (419 White Plains Rd, Trumbull, CT 06611). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady of Fatima Church (465 Huntington Rd, Bridgeport, CT 06608). A burial will be held on Monday, August 18th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. Michael Cemetery (2205 Stratford Ave, Stratford, CT 06615).
