Raymond Mulvey

Raymond W. Mulvey, 91, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Born and raised in Norwalk, Ray was the son of the late William and Mary (Fagan) Mulvey. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Wiley) Mulvey for 21 years and was predeceased by his first wife of 32 years, Matilda (Nero) Mulvey, the devoted mother of his children. He was also predeceased by nine siblings and leaves behind a large, loving family.
In addition to his wife Linda, Ray is survived by his sons Christopher (Georgia) and Paul (Jennifer); his grandchildren James, Kristin, Cameron (Brittney), and Cory; his cherished great-grandchildren Brelynn and Wesley; his sister Norene Tucciarone; and by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After graduating from Norwalk High School, Raymond earned his bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico and a master's degree from the University of Bridgeport. He dedicated 36 years as a physical education teacher and coach at Nathan Hale Middle School, where he inspired generations of students with his passion and discipline. During the summers, he was a familiar face as manager of Ascension Beach, and later at the Norwalk beaches, where his welcoming presence and commitment to the community were widely admired.
Outside of work, Ray was a man of many talents and interests. He was an avid carpenter, birder, history enthusiast, and, with retirement, a chef, with a deep appreciation for nature and a gift for storytelling. Among family and friends, he was also known for his lighthearted tradition of collecting golf balls.
Above all, Ray cherished his family. He found immense joy in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his warmth, humor, and generosity left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, September 5, at 11:30 AM at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at St. Philip Church, One Father Conlon Place, Norwalk, with burial at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
