He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Mayer and Beverly Mayer (Stokes); his wife Judy Mayer; and his brother David Mayer. He is survived by: his children, Kristine Anna Marie Mayer of Rock Island and G. Allen Mayer (Carey); his grandchildren, Conrad and Katherine Mayer of Springfield, IL.; his brothers, Jeffrey and Philip Mayer (Betsy); and his sister-in-law Janice Beagley. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church (1600 20th St, Rock Island, IL 61201). During the pandemic he taught his granddaughter Katherine how to bake family recipes over Facetime.
The family asks that memorials be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or First Lutheran Church of Rock Island or to one of the many charities and causes that he supported.
