He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Edward DeLong and Dorothy DeLong (Marks); his wife Anne Abbott Potter; his son Blair DeLong; and his sister Terryl Postlewaite.
He is survived by: his children, David Potter DeLong and Elizabeth Anne DeLong (Victor Panegos); his granddaughters, Ryan Elizabeth Bucktrout and Olivia Anneiole Panegos; his sister Linda Ann Heedum; his brother-in-law Paul Postlewaite; and his friend Beverly Roberts. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory - Rock Island (3030 7th Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Anglican Church (1818 6th Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to the Camp Mishawaka Scholarship Fund or Heartland Hospice.
