With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Melvin F. Schroeder of Silvis, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 16, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Myron Schroeder and Mildred Schroeder (Nienaber); his wife Mary Studeny; his siblings, Darlene Schroeder, Sandra Watkins, Nancy Wilson and R. T. Schroeder; his brothers-in-law, George Watkins, Jack Schroeder and Lester Umland; and also Suzette.
He is survived by: his daughters, Dr. Laura Schroeder (Kristin Zenk) of Phoenix, AZ and Linda Andry of Eldridge, IA; his grandchildren, Benjamin Andry of Minneapolis, MN, Emily Reeve (Nick) of Blue Grass, IA, Bryce Andry (Karlee) of North Mankato, MN, Bailey Andry of Tucson, AZ, Clare Zenk of Phoenix, AZ and Lauren Zenk of Milwaukee, WI; his great grandchildren, Margo and Bridget Reeve; his sisters, Patricia Umland of Moline, IL and Carolyn Grunder (Roger) of Wilton, IA; and his brother-in-law Thom Wilson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and many close friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 25th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rafferty Funeral Home (2111 1st Street A a, Moline, IL 61265, USA). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials can be made to the Silvis Fire Department, Silvis Garden Club, or North Ridge Community Church.
