We are sad to announce that on September 15, 2025, at the age of 89, Roy Franklin (Rock Island, Illinois) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Thurman and Bertha Franklin (Griffin); his daughter Laura Franklin; his grandson Dwight McCall Jr.; and his siblings, Robert Franklin and Roberta Draper.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Verdegam of John's Lutheran Church; his daughter Lisa Nimmers (Troy Sr.); his grandchildren, Julia Franklin, Ebonie Wilmington (Vernon), Aundrea Bell (David), Marcus McCall, Michael McCall and Tori Nimmers; his great grandchild Andrew Franklin; and his niece Debra McCarthy. He is also survived by other great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Grace Church (2324 18th Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in his honor.
