He was predeceased by : his parents, Andrew and Lorna; his former life partner Kathleen Stone; and his son Jeffrey Miedema. He is survived by : his wife Marylu Max; his children, Jason Miedema (Tina) of Bristol, WI and Kristy Slabosz (Mike) of Antioch, IL; his step-son Damian Schott of Antioch, IL; his grandchildren, Jacob, Jesse, Zach and Kyleigh; and his siblings, Andrew "Bud" Miedema (Ginger) of Hanover Park, IL and Susan Vlahopoulos of Algonquin, IL. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21st 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch (1055 Main St, Antioch, IL 60002). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 21st 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Thursday, February 22nd 2024 at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lake County Forest Preserves 1899 W. Winchester Rd. Libertyville, IL 60048, are appreciated in Walter's memory.
