He is survived by: his wife Sara Jean (Crivello); his children, John Schmitz (Jamie) of West, Susan Van Marter of Elmhurst, IL, Margaret (Gary Nutting) of Monterey, TN, Kathryn, Mariann (James Bostian) of North Aurora, IL, James Schmitz (Donna) of Appleton, WI and Jacqueline (Jim Kilcran) of St. Charles, IL.; his grandchildren, Daniel (Megan), Laura (Joseph Gaydaychuk), Jennifer (Steven Fernandes), John David Schmitz (Courtney), Rebecca (Andrew Rutkoski), Anders, Eugene, Jack Van Marter, Christopher (Shelby), Natalie, Sara, Audrey Sheehan (Perrone), Nathan (Billie Jo), Nicole Bougie (Kurt Bloemer), Alexandra, Samantha, Maxell Schmitz, Sophia (Dylan Ward) and James Kilcran; and his great grandchildren, Daiveny, Lochner Schmitz, Hendrix, Zayne, Raina Gaydaychuk, Finley, Oliver Fernandes, Matthew, Elle-Marie Kelly, Mabel, Andrew, Rutkoski, Vincent, Jason Van Marter, Jamison, River Nutting, Salvatore Perrone, Will, Hazel, Alec Bougie, Pipa and Crew Bloemer. He is also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM at the Yurs Funeral Home (405 E Main St, St. Charles, IL 60174). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church - Downtown (400 Cedar St, St. Charles, IL 60174).
