He was predeceased by: his parents, William Cheney and Violet Cheney; his son Joseph Paul Cheney; his brother William Cheney; his nephew Shane Walsh; and his in-laws, Alex and Paula Szabo.
He is survived by: his wife Maria Cheney; his children, Kristina Marie Ruiz (Hector), Richard James Bishop (Sabrina), Tricia Ann Kruchten (Michael) and Nicole Marie Cheney (Michael); his grandchildren, Joshua, Cody, Maddyson, Sydney, Ramona, Justin, Karly, Matthew, Salvatore (Vanessa), Nathaniel, Elijah, Avery and Oliver; his great grandchildren, Leonardo and Hendryx; his sister Sandra Ravagnie (Roy); and his nephew John Walsh (Kim). He is also survived by extended family, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Tezak's Home (1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435). A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A prayer will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Elmhurst Cemetery (1212 E Washington St, Joliet, IL 60433).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Les' name to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care—a cause close to their hearts.
