He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Hemker and Caroline Hemker; his brother Harley Hemker; and his siblings-in-law, Marion Buol, LaVerne Schafer and Glenn Buol.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Schafer; his children, Tim Hemker and Debbie Staven (Mark); his granddaughters, Jorey Staven and Jacey Nelson (Matthew); his siblings, Joanne Hemker, Jeanette Boehlke (Paul) and Kenneth Hemker (Debbie); and his siblings-in-law, Kenneth Schafer (Patricia) and Darlene Schafer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Miller-Reesman Funeral Home (620 15th Ave, Union Grove, WI 53182). A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 12th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 12th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Union Grove Memorial Cemetery (5115 S Colony Ave, Union Grove, WI 53182).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to the Union Grove-Yorkville Fire Department or the Alzheimer's Association.
