He is survived by: his children, Venecia Tavarez, Jose M. Tavarez, Alexandrina Rodriguez (Sandra), Nelson Tavarez and Rosemary Fraga; his grandchildren, Joseph Rodriguez (Joey), Tiffany Jaramillo, Yesenia Tavarez, Christina Tavarez, Justin Ortiz, Christian Ortiz, Kristy Colon, Nelson Tavarez and Adrien Tavarez; and his siblings, Catalina Tineo, Pedro Tavarez, Anthonia Batista, Altagracia Rodriguez, Josefa Rodriguez, Mercedes Jimenez, Rosa Lugo and Socorro Tavarez.
He bravely battled Alzheimer's disease for more than 10 years.
