With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jo S. DeYoung in Lakeland, Florida, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 25, 2025 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Jo farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Jo is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Stephens and Virginia Stephens (Elder); and her son James M. DeYoung. She is survived by: her son Jeff DeYoung (Connie) of Englewood; and her grandchildren, Emma DeYoung of Tampa and Alex DeYoung of Englewood.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Whidden-McLean Funeral Home (650 E Main St, Bartow, FL 33830). A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the McLeod Memorial Presbyterian Church (695 W Stuart St, Bartow, FL 33830).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bartow Adult Concert Band.
